This is going to look so awesome!  Everywhere that you see blue tape is stainless steal.  It is really beautiful! Check it out!!

At this time – all of the departments have completed their study on Chapter 1 in TLAC.  There are some really awesome techniques in that chapter.  Many of these  techniques can be tied to rigor:  Right is right, no opt out, and stretch it!  Equally important is technique #5 – No apologies.  I love this technique!  Doug Lemov says this:

“There is no such thing as boring content.  In the hands of a great teacher who can find the way in, the material students need to master to succeed and grow is exciting, interesting, and inspiring, even if as teachers we sometimes doubt that we can make it so.”

Don’t apologize for your content or assume it is boring!  All content enriches our students lives and they never know when they might need it!  We are growing well-rounded citizens who need all of the content you have to teach to them!  In January the departments will meet to discuss Chapter 4, Engaging Students in Your Lessons.  We are going to pick up 2 and 3 at the end of the year.  So Chapter 4 is our next read.  Your DC will let you know dates when they have been set.

Early release on Wednesday:  The students go home at 2:00 on Wednesday, and our PD will begin at 2:15 in the MPR.  Yes Prep will be joining us for our PD that day!  It will be a change of pace and I think you will enjoy it.  We will go to 5:00 and in return for your time – you can leave early on Friday, Dec. 21!  Part of our afternoon will involve food.  We are going to be working in teams and I think you will have fun!  Be prepared – I am giving you a free jeans day that day!  Please wear an NMS spirit shirt. We will be on our early release schedule.  The schedule will be out first thing tomorrow morning.

I put a Yes Prep calendar in everyone’s box.  I wrote Yes Prep all over it!  Please be careful and know that it is an FYI only – you will receive an NMS calendar soon!

Props:  Props to Coach Price and Coach Brooker for giving us extra meeting time by watching students for everyone during advisory!  Snap! Snap!
Props to LIndsey for syncing the Ipads and loading the Apps for ELA and maybe even some others! Snap! Snap!
Props to the co-teachers who took over classes when subs didn’t show on Friday!  Snap! Snap!  And… props to their cooperating teachers for being understanding!  Snap! Snap!
