Integrity:  We do what we say we will do.  We have honor our promises and commitments.  We are honest.

TELPAS – Thank you Kathy for the hard work for the on-line TELPAS!  Thank you teachers for getting all of the writing samples completed, turned in, and all of the raters for completing the job!  Thanks Tracey for collecting the samples.  This was a big team effort!

As we work towards the home stretch – we all want to use the same terminology!  When you want students to show you that they are ready to go – be sure you are using the terms “SLANT” in each of your classes.  We become a powerful force when we all have the same expectations and aks for the behaviors in the same way!  Have your students sign-in and out to go to the restroom.  Be sure if a student leaves your room – they have a pass!  Everyone participating in these routines and expectations will help us have a smooth last 9 weeks!  Thank you in advance for doing so!

ELL Strategies – please continue to ask students to speak in complete sentences!  This strategy alone is a game changer!  Are you directly teaching vocabulary?  Research shows that ELL students need the vocabulary directly taught to them!

Thank you to the CIT for meeting with the grade levels last week!  That was a lot of work on the members part!  Great work in preparation and execution!  Our words have an effect on our organization!  Let’s make NMS a positive organization!  We spend a very large marjority of our time here – so it should be a great place to work!   It is up to each of us!

Culture Corner:
6th grade:  On Thursday night, 10 students were able to attend the NHS Boy’s Soccer Playoff game.  They earned the right from being the top Kickboard Dollar earners in their grade. They were amazing at the soccer game-cheering for the boys and being great ambassadors for NMS.  This past week, Ms. Reap has been working on integrity with the 6th graders.  In Townhall today, we discussed what was integrity.  Ms. Reap gave examples of what was integrity and what was not integrity that she had seen in the past week.  We also discussed what happens when you lose your integrity and what you have to do to gain it back.  We also mentioned the Knight Value Grit for April.

7th grade:  As STAAR begins all the 7th graders and their teachers are working toward our goal of a minimum passing score of 70%. Everyone is shooting for excellence though and working for commended. Salt shakers ready!!! Hold on tight!!

8th grade:  As STAAR begins all the 7th graders and their teachers are working toward our goal of a minimum passing score of 70%. Everyone is shooting for excellence though and working for commended. Salt shakers ready!!! Hold on tight!!
