NMS Faculty Bulletin 4-7-2014

Know Our Kids, Meet their Needs, Up the Mountain to T-2-4!

One round of testing – check it off the list!  Congrats to the 7th and 8th grade teachers for getting one round under their belt!  Thank you to Steve and Lesli for a very smooth round of testing, and thank you to the teachers who tested – there didn’t seem to be any major events, thank you to the teachers who were break givers, and thank you to the bathroom monitors!  It takes everyone to make testing so smooth!  You all pulled together and showed true teamwork!  Thank you!

We have only a couple of weeks, and then the big round of testing will be upon us!  Just so everyone has a heads up – here is the testing schedule that week:
Monday, April 21 – should get scores returned on 8th grade math and reading
Tuesday, April 22 – 6th and 7th grade Math, 8th grade Social Studies
Wednesday, April 23 – 6th and 7th grade Reading and 8th grade science – Everyone is testing!

Tuesday, May 13 – Algebra EOC & 8th grade STAAR Math Retest
Wednesday, May 14 – 8th grade STAAR Reading Retest

I want to appreciate those of you who are using LiveSchool on a daily basis!  The culture is changing at NMS and it definitely takes all of us working with our students to make it happen!  I am constantly amazed by how hard you are working to change the culture and the differences I can see!  Keep it up!

Shouts also to everyone who attended Community Night!  We had pretty strong attendance!  There were only 6 more 6th grade parents that came over the 8th grade parents!  That is fantastic!  Snaps to you all who came!!!

We are having great turn out for Saturday School!  Thank you to the teachers who are coming in on Saturday to help our students on their climb up Mt. T-2-4!  You all inspire me to be better every day!  Our kids want to succeed and our teachers are helping them to do so!

Now is the time to keep pushing our students.  We don’t want to let up now – they start getting fidgety anyway in May – so we need to keep them engaged, focus, and working on meaningful tasks through the last day in June!  The students should be exhausted when they go home at night – make their brains tired!!

Remember – everyone needs to complete their Summative Goals and get them turned in to their appraiser!
