NMS Faculty Bulletin 5-5-2015

Know our Kids, Meet their Needs, Up the Mountain to T-2-4!

I am sure that you all have seen the calendar that Tracey sent out.  The month of May is nuts!  There are so many things going on!  I will try to send out reminders, but be sure you do you best to stay on top of of what’s going on!

I want to do a few shout outs today.  First shout out to Lesli Brown!  Thank you Lesli for getting our 8th grade STAAR data together, creating the intervention groups, and all of the other things in between!  A shout out to Angela, Katie, and Gretchen for  helping out in 8th grade during intervention time!  We needed more teachers to make the groups 10 or smaller – your help is appreciated!  Thanks to Tracey for copying all of the math work!  Thank you to Crystal, Kyle, Nicole, and Patricia for working with the small groups and powering through this work and making great things happen for kids! I would also like to thank Sarah and Tracy for working with the students who have already passed in the library!   As we work with our students and help them on their climb up Mount T-2-4, all of this extra work will make a difference!  Props to you all!!!

As we begin thinking about next year – the CIT will be working with the campus improvement plan and the activities that are to help us reach our goals.  We will also be talking about moving the partnership forward and continuing to expand our relationships with YES!

This week is Teacher Appreciation Week!  You are appreciated always – but we are going to “really” appreciate you this week!  So – enjoy your week by wearing jeans every single day – Monday – Friday!

Teacher Apprecation pic

If I Could Teach You, Teacher
If I could teach you, teacher,
I’d teach you how much more
you have accomplished
than you think you have.
I’d show you the seeds
you planted years ago
that are now coming into bloom.
I’d reveal to you the young minds
that have expanded under your care,
the hearts that are serving others
because they had you as a role model.
If I could teach you, teacher,
I’d show you the positive effect
you have had on me and my life.
Your homework is
to know your value to the world,
to acknowledge it, to believe it.
Thank you, teacher.

This Tuesday night is the choir and orchestra concert!  I hope many of you can stay or come and show support for our choir and orchestra students!  I have heard the choir practicing and they sound great!

Art Car Parade – is coming to NMS!  If you are a 6th grade teacher and have a class at 9:00 am, please bring your students out to the front to see the Art Cars.  The two art teachers need to bring their students also!  Stephanie Walton is bringing the cars and she will be leading the parade!  She said to tell the students not to touch the cars unless they ask permission – I think it’s better if we tell our students to look only!
