The Knights’ News 9-2-2014

now Our Kids, Meet their Needs, Up the Mountain to T-2-4!

Congratulations everyone!  We had a very successful first week of school!  We had kids in classes, lunches were eventually figured out, and kids found their way home on Friday!  It wouldn’t have been that smooth without your planning – so Thank you for that.

I have heard very positive comments about CHAMPS and our first week using it.  Remember – the recommendation from the CHAMPS author is to continue to teach the CHAMPS routines and procedures each and every day for 20-25 days. We have just gotten started.  The students are learning new procedures in every classroom – so even though you may feel like they know it already – they are getting different versions in each room – so over teaching in your classroom is ok – and that is the recommendation.  I will be coming in this week and look forward to seeing it taught and used!

I sent out to everyone the Advisory lessons for this week.  Tracey put the article for this month in everyone’s box.  When you all meet in your grade levels on Thursdays, I want you to go over the advisory plan for the week so that everyone is ready to teach on Monday.  You only have 15 minutes – so we want to make the most efficient use of our time!  As we get further in to school, we will be able to judge better how many vocabulary words, and how much can be read during that time.  For right now – just do the best you can.
